Mt. Hachimen, a symbol of Nakatsu City, is named “Hachimen” (“Eight Faces”) because its shape appears nearly the same from all directions. The “Path in the Sky” Observation Deck, opened in March 2020, allows visitors to safely enjoy the mountain’s breathtaking views. Equipped with ramps and footlights, it is accessible to everyone at any time. From the observation point, you can see the Kunisaki Peninsula and the Buzen Plain, and on clear days, even Yamaguchi Prefecture. The night view is equally stunning and was certified as part of the Japan Nightscape Heritage in 2016.
