10.Kensho-ji Temple Archives
■Commentary
In the Kensho-ji Records in the Kensho-ji Temple Archives, there is a passage that reads, “Buddhist priest Suikei used dyed Chinese leaves to dye his clothes.” This is considered to be the oldest record of Awa Ai dyeing. (Shoichiro Miyoshi, The History of Awa Ai 1996).
* The Buddhist priest Suikei opened Hoju-ji Temple in 1247 in present day Iwakura, Wakimachi, Mima City.
