The Mainakashima district where Ai was produced and Wakimachiminami-machi, the center of its distribution, are located in the front across Yoshino River. In the past, the Yoshino River had a highly developed water transportation system that was used by ships to carry various goods. This included Ai that was actively cultivated during the Edo and Meiji eras, and the Ai produced on Mainakashima was also delivered to Wakimachiminami-machi. Today, a diving bridge is found in the site, but you can still re-live the scenery that connected the production and distribution areas in the past.
