07.Shrine Buildings / Enshrined Deities
■Commentary
The shinmon (shrine gate), tamagaki (fences surrounding the shrine), nai-haiden (inner worship hall), heiden (hall of offerings), and honden-ooiya (main shrine covering roof) were built in 1936 by the design of Chūta Ito. The ge-haiden (outer worship hall) was added in 2015 as we celebrated 1300 years of construction of Koma County. The honden (main shrine) inside the covering roof was built in 1552, and is designated as the cultural property of Saitama Prefecture.
At Koma Shrine, in addition to Koma no Kokishi Jakkō, the deity of successful career and good fortune, Sarutahiko no Mikoto, the deity of leadership, and Takenouchi no Sukune no Mikoto, who enjoyed longevity and served the Imperial Court for a long time, are enshrined. It can be said that, following God’s will, led to the right path, remain mentally and physically sound and live out one’s allotted span of life is the divine virtue of this shrine.
The manner of prayer is “bow twice, clap hands twice and then bow once.” Please refer to the illustration on the signboard.
