From early autumn to the Halloween season, Niseko Station and the town of Niseko become adorned with real Halloween pumpkins. The Niseko Halloween event dates back to 2008. The pumpkins are grown by two local farmers, one of whom once was close to giving up her dream of becoming a farmer when her husband passed away. Then, a friend asked if she could grow pumpkins for a Halloween event. Inspired by the idea that it could bring joy to the people of Niseko, she decided to take on the challenge. Those farmers put a lot of effort into growing pumpkins, and the farmers and the town`s people harvest and decorate together, bringing Niseko Halloween to life. At the heart of this event lies local farmers` and community members` dedication and hard work, driven by their desire to bring joy and festivity to the residents and visitors. The event has now grown into one of Niseko`s major autumn celebrations. Yet, the spirit of mutual support passed down from generation to generation flows through it.
