■Commentary
This is the birthplace and childhood home of the Miyazaki brothers—Hachiro, Tamizo, Yazo, and Toten—who actively sought freedom and equality for people in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It is designated as a Historical Site by Kumamoto Prefecture. The youngest brother, Toten, is known for his instrumental role in establishing the Chinese Revolutionary Alliance (the Tongmenghui), which triggered the success of the Xinhai Revolution in China in 1911. He supported the leader of the revolution, Sun Yat-sen, both physically and emotionally, and their friendship lasted a lifetime. Sun Yat-sen himself visited this birthplace twice, in 1897 and 1913.

In 1993, Arao dismantled the thatched-roof Japanese-style house and restored it to its original state, which is now open to the public. There is also a museum on the premises, exhibiting historical materials related to the activities of the Miyazaki brothers and a collection of calligraphy works by Sun Yat-sen, demonstrating his deep friendship with the Miyazaki family.
