Ukishima Waterfront Park was developed around the pond surrounding Ukishima Kumanomasu Shrine. The pond’s water is spring water, and approximately 130,000 tons of it is generated a day. This pond, a detention basin that was selected as having one of the Heisei period’s “Top 100 waters,” is home to many kinds of fish, including carp, crucian carp, and eel, so fishing can be enjoyed here all year round, making it a popular destination for regular visitors as well as those looking to catch some fish. In the winter, ducks and other waterfowl fly to the area, and the waterfront park is visited by families, town locals, out-of-towners, and many people in general.
