04.Koma Suitengū
■Commentary
The enshrined deity of Suitengū is Emperor Antoku, and the deity is said to possess miraculous powers in easy birth, child rearing, sound health and avoiding disaster by water, and was widely worshipped. The Koma Suitengū is said to have been enshrined on kanjō(ceremonial transfer of a divided tutelary deity to a new location) during the late Edo period. In the drawings in the latter part of Edo period, this place is written as the “Site of Honchi-dō”, and it is listed as the “remains of Koma king’s residence” in the “Shinpen Musashi Fudokikō,” and we can conjecture that it was originally an important ceremonial place. The fact that the Shintō ritual performing art of Shishimai in the Reisai festival of October 19 sets Suitengū as the final point in the first scene of “Miyamairi” demonstrates that point.
